Last year, Covid-19 interfered with many of our bold plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of LLW at both the state and local level. We wrote extensively about this in an article in which the virtual National LLW Opening 2020 is highlighted. The entirely different concept of the event brought us a lot of value — above all, the 25 testimonies about the importance of lifelong learning. They were also brought to the attention of the employees of the International Cooperation and European Affairs Service at the MESS when they searched for accompanying materials for the Skills Summit Slovenia 2020, a meeting of ministers and other high representatives of OECD member states. Eventually, the idea was born to use the LLW testimonies to create a campaign to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of lifelong learning. In a co-production of SIAE, MESS and the Slovenian Press Agency, we created a video publication entitled The more you know, the more you are worth — if you learn all your life.

Some of the people who advocated for lifelong learning were Prof Dr Ana Krajnc, a respected adult educator in Slovenia and abroad and honorary professor, Brigita Kruder, MSc, directress of Slovenska Bistrica AEC, Eva Mermolja, directress of Ajdovščina AEC, Janja Bartelj, co-worker at MOCIS Centre for Adult Education Slovenj Gradec, Marija Metlika, SIAE Award winner for the Promotion of Adult Learning and Knowledge 2011, Nataša Horvat, SIAE Award winner for the Promotion of Adult Learning and Knowledge 2018, Tanja Skaza, co-owner of the company Plastika Skaza, Feri Lainšček, winner of Prešeren Award, poet and writer, and Dr Zoran Jelenc, former director of the SIAE and initiator of the organisation of LLW in 1996. Only some of the life roles of our advocates of lifelong learning are mentioned here, but one thing we can certainly say for each of them — they are primarily a Human with a capital H!

The Slovenian Press Agency posted the video The more you know, the more you are worth — if you learn all your life, on their website and Facebook. The news was also shown on the MESS website and Facebook. At the SIAE, however, we have been using all of our communication channels to reach as many people as possible with these precious messages. Advocates of learning are enthralling on the SIAE website and our social networks.
