AE in Slovenia boasts a truly rich history. The former joint country (Yugoslavia) was in favour of workers’ universities that allowed people to learn a profession even after being employed. During the period known as the global education crisis, UNESCO organised the Third International Conference on AE (1972). Participants were in favour of the lifelong learning strategy.
In this period, already in 1968, the SAEA was established.
The association marked half a century of operation by publishing the ADEES newsletter that was reshaped by the SIAE into an online publication and published it in its Digital Library (in Slovenian). We remembered the jubilee at a consultation of the SAEA in June in Zalog where the brief overview of work was summarised by Dr Zoran Jelenc, the long-standing president of the association.
In the newsletter, the association’s activities are divided into four periods. They present all the presidents, honorary members, important milestones and events, and the organisations that the association has worked with. The publication is rounded off by records on milestone events, memories, points of interest. These confirm that members are not only amazing experts but also great enthusiasts who believe in their own work which is precisely the reason they achieved so much. We wish them many more interesting projects.
