September is also dedicated to informing adults about the promotion of educational programmes and presenting guidance for adults during the traditional Days of Guidance for Learning. We aim to encourage adults to engage in education. This was also the case this time when, for the 19th year in a row, we organised free workshops for learning foreign languages and Slovenian and for developing digital competencies. We also organised a major event aimed at HR professionals and companies. We called it the Coastal HR Challenges.
With migrations and immigration, there has been an increased need for knowledge of the Slovenian language. Therefore, as part of the Days of Guidance for Learning, we organised several workshops on informing and advising on taking exams in Slovenian at entry and basic levels. We discussed and exchanged experiences on strategies and techniques for self-directed learning and preparations for both exams. Participants were introduced to materials for self-directed learning of Slovenian, handbooks and textbooks. We assessed the challenges that foreigners face in learning Slovenian and how we, as an adult education centre, can assist them. During the three-day workshops within the Days of Guidance for Learning, participants also got acquainted with our self-directed learning centre and the opportunities it offers.
Days of Guidance for Learning are more than welcome because, through these events, we connect with adults and motivate them to engage in various educational activities. After attending the workshops, participants often return to us and continue their learning, either at the self-directed learning centres or by participating in courses or workshops.
