The Digital reading room of the SIAE is now offering a new work dealing with e-learning; it carries the title E-izobraževanje za digitalno družbo (in Slovenian) (E-Learning for a Digital Society). The monograph was written by the same authors who created the Osnove e-izobraževanja (E-Learning Basics) manual from 2010 (Dr Lea Bregar, Margerita Zagmajster, MSc, and Dr Marko Radovan). Technological development over the last century has also opened up new possibilities in education for innovative approaches to learning and teaching that enable the development of knowledge and competences in line with the requirements of the 21st century, i.e. not only in e-learning but also in traditional education. The consideration of these approaches and methods encompasses roughly 40 % of the monograph. We updated the fundamental content on e-learning being part of the manual from 2010 e-education contents in the manual from 2010 in accordance with the new professional findings and technological possibilities. The monograph comprises seven complete content sets. It presents the theoretical and developmental aspects of e-learning, the characteristics of the strategic, business-organisational and pedagogical aspects of e-learning programme planning, development of e-learning programmes, pedagogical support and management in the implementation of e-learning as well as new approaches and methods such as the open education with OER and MOOC, artificial intelligence, learning analytics, intelligent tutorship systems, mobile learning, microlearning, gamification, simulations, virtual and augmented reality as well as digital storytelling.
The monograph presents a substantively rounded off, updated and forward-looking view of e-learning on the path to a digital society. We believe that it will be useful for everyone who is interested in this content.
