Some time ago, the idea emerged of creating a collection of tools and resources for guidance counsellors working in adult education as a public service. We anticipated that having such a collection available in one place would make their work easier and more efficient.
The original idea was to include only tools intended for assessment. However, during the development process, it became clear that its usefulness would be much greater if it brought together all the tools used by counsellors within guidance as a public service. As a result, we published a comprehensive collection of resources needed to carry out the guidance process, support career planning and development, learning-to-learn, knowledge and skill assessment and self-directed learning.
What is the added value of this collection of assessment tools? The concept was developed by colleagues from the Guidance and Validation Unit at the SIAE, while the development process also involved an advisory group of experienced counsellors. Alongside assessment tools developed at the SIAE, the collection also includes tools from other sources that counsellors use in practice. The key innovation, however, is the possibility for counsellors themselves to upload tools created within their own organisations and development projects. This also enables the exchange of tools and good practices between organisations, with all published tools and resources meeting professional criteria approved by the members of the advisory group.
At the same time as developing the collection, we also updated the Guidance for Knowledge website (in Slovenian). Its content is now clearly tailored to two target groups: the wider public on the one hand, and counsellors working in adult education guidance as a public service, together with other professionals involved in guidance activities, on the other.
The collection of tools was developed within the framework of the project Strengthening Lifelong Learning (Strand 3: Strengthening Adult Education Guidance Activities), which is being implemented by the SIAE between 2024 and 2029. The project is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus.
