Most events envisaged for the 16th DGSC were held from 23 to 25 September, but some also took place outside the official dates. In these unusual times, 17 ISIO centres together successfully carried out 150 events in various public places, where they aimed to provide information on education and learning possibilities to as many adults as possible. SIAE associates who visited them felt first-hand the dedication of experienced counsellors and the local beat of the events at the knowledge stands, guidance corners and consultations. The beat was very lively despite the adapted circumstances.

Knowledge improves life

The three-day events increased the visibility of ISIO centres in the local environment and enabled us to apply the outreach method and present the options for guidance and support offered by the centres. We placed stress on the positive aspects of lifelong learning.

Most of the centres had a knowledge stand in a public place for at least one day and prepared open doors days, workshops and lectures. Lively presentations and clever and attractive promotional approaches were used to show the visitors the paths to the realisation of their wishes or the satisfaction of their learning needs. We searched for answers to the question of how to overcome the fear or obstacle of restarting one’s education.

 Knowledge day

As part of the Strengthening Social Dialogue project (in Slovenian), the DSGC this year featured the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia. 12 ISIO centres and representatives of their regional networks prepared events that we have called Knowledge Day. Their aim was to address companies and promote the importance of employee education and training to raise competences and to inform and provide guidance in companies about the possibilities for employee education. They set up knowledge stands, held discussions with employers and organised consultations outside the companies.

Spreading the word about ISIO centres

This year’s DSGC were marked by intensive promotional activity of all organisations participating in ISIO centres. We supported each other through the joint LLW 2020 campaign. This was especially evident on social networks, which offered more information for adults. All the diversity of the events was magnificently showcased on our Facebook (#DneviISIO2020) and Instagram profiles.
