It is important that older people, especially those who are newly retired or nearing the end of their working careers, visit the Festival of the Third Age. There, they receive information on how to fill any void meaningfully after retirement. The exhibitors offer a variety of options aligned with individual desires and interests. Information on education is undoubtedly crucial, as learning exercises our brains. It is just as important as physical activity for strengthening the body.

At the SIAE stand, there was considerable interest in computer science and foreign languages. Many gladly took promotional materials, especially for the Where to Go for Knowledge platform.

Some individuals believed they had learned enough. We tried to convince them otherwise, and many said they would reconsider. Most visitors to our stand stated that we learn throughout our lives.

Marija v pogovoru z Biserko Marolt Meden

I was present for all three days, i. e. from 27 to 29 September, I felt very comfortable in the company of visitors, especially if they were satisfied with the information offered. I liked seeing many of my acquaintances again after a long time. I was most impressed by two of my classmates from my art history studies, Asta Vrečko, Minister of Culture, and Katarina Golob Veselič, presenter at RTV Slovenia.

Ministra sta želela spoznati Astino sošolko.

The study years of my third life, spent with wonderful young people, were among the most beautiful periods of my life. We got along very well as well as worked together. I, too, learn from the young ones.

S sošolko Katarino

Studying art history after retirement was a true renaissance of my life.

Marija v pogovoru z dr. Musarjem

At the Festival of the Third Age, I, too, sought information for learning. I enjoy collaborating with the SIAE because I highly value their mission.

I also discussed my post-retirement studies with Aleš Musar, the husband of the President of the Republic of Slovenia. I told him I was now learning Russian. I was surprised by his perfect knowledge of the language. It embarrassed me a bit, as I’m not as confident. Now, I will make a special effort and practice every day. I hope and wish that next year, he will stop by the SIAE stand again, and I will be able to exchange a few sentences with him.

I also find it commendable that we continually choose to learn something new. I bought a tambura because I want to accompany singing with friends using this instrument.
