Between the 20th and 22nd of September, in collaboration with ISIO Centres and Self-Directed Learning Centres across Slovenia, we organised the 19th Days of Guidance for Learning, which took place throughout Slovenia this year.

The events were associated with all three areas of guidance in ALE:

  • enrollment in education and continuation of education;
  • identification and documentation;
  • organised self-directed learning.

Their primary purpose is to inform adults about guidance opportunities and share information about the possibilities of:

  • enrolling in formal and non-formal educational programmes and other forms of education;
  • identification and documentation of previously acquired knowledge;
  • career guidance;
  • self-directed learning;
  • education/training co-financing opportunities.

Representatives of Higher Vocational Colleges from the local area were also involved in the events, informing about the possibilities of enrolling in formal higher vocational education programmes.

Through activities over these three days, we aimed to increase the recognition of ISIO Centres and Self-Directed Learning Centres in the local community. We aimed to introduce adults to the guidance and support options these centres offer in seeking new paths to knowledge.

During the Days of Guidance for Learning, all centres conducted various presentations and promotional stalls in public places (city squares, streets, fairs, shopping centres, libraries, museums, etc.) where information is readily accessible to as many adults as possible. They also organised open house days, workshops and lectures.

Digital Knowledge Day

One day was dedicated to informing adults about the importance of developing digital skills and the opportunities available to them in the local area. We have named it Digital Knowledge Day. The focus was on activities related to the development of digital skills: assessing digital skills, self-directed learning using video materials, short workshops and more.

INFO Newspaper – Guidance for Learning 2023/2024

The newspaper (in Slovenian) contains current information about various adult education and learning opportunities, the assessment of previously acquired knowledge and skills, as well as career planning and development. Useful web addresses with more information are included in the articles.

At the end of September, five ISIO Centres and Self-Directed Learning Centres were also presented at the 22nd Festival of the Third Age at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.

The year 2023 holds special significance for the ISIO Centre Nova Gorica, which celebrates its 20th anniversary of operation.

The Days of Guidance for Learning 2023 were also included in the list of the EYS events.

We published a web calendar of all events organised by ISIO Centres and Self-Directed Learning Centres for adults during the Days of Guidance for Learning on the website (in Slovenian).
