Held on 20 March at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana, the 17th Cultural Bazaar brought together over a hundred professionals and students from various fields. The event, titled Arts and Cultural Education in the Digital Age, invited participants to explore the intersection of education with science, art, technology and creativity.

The SIAE stand was located in the exhibition space in the first lobby. We showcased activities and products related to lifelong learning and intergenerational cooperation, the Where to Get Knowledge platform and the Lahko.si campaign.

What impressed me most was the visitors’ interest in the Awareness-Raising for Lifelong Learning project and the Lahko.si campaign. Clearly, the public views both as highly positive and essential. With the help of riddles, we successfully captured attention – people enjoy challenges and learning something new. If they receive a symbolic reward for it, it is all the more welcome. I believe that thanks to the Cultural Bazaar, many will now have a different understanding of the Lahko.si campaign advertisements.

We invited participation in LLW, the most prominent educational and learning promotional campaign in Slovenia (12 May–15 June), as well as in the Learning Parade – Day of Learning Communities (21 May).

We were delighted to be joined by SIAE award recipient Janja Urbiha from Kozarišče in the Municipality of Loška Valley. She visited us in the role of the distinguished Countess Greta. Visitors were impressed by the successful practices of non-formal learning, such as study circles, and by the sharing of knowledge within her local community.

Countess Greta was pleased to accept the invitation and joined our stand at this year’s Cultural Bazaar.

She exchanged experiences with teachers at the stand about their shared mission – spreading knowledge. They soon realised that a wealth of learning lies hidden between the pages of books. Together, they devised engaging ways to bring the beauty of reading culture and cultural heritage closer to young people. Many even promised to visit her soon in her beloved park at Snežnik Castle, where she delights in welcoming guests and sharing her knowledge of times past.

Together with Countess Greta, we explored traditional recipes and discovered a special Lenten dish in a 175-year-old cookbook – chocolate soup and its ‘imitation’ version.

We believe that, together, we have encouraged critical reflection on how to incorporate technology into creative processes in a balanced way while preserving the importance of experiencing art, culture and in-person learning.
