In the first half of March, the Montenegro seaside town of Budva hosted the 2018 Regional EPALE Conference. This is an annual event co-organised by the EPALE National Support Services from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.

The EPALE Slovenia invited 12 representatives of Slovenian adult education organisations to participate at the conference. The topic of this year’s conference was research and research practices in adult education. The invited lecturers from all participating countries also prepared a contribution on research in their national environment.

Katja Kragelj and Diana Volčjak, the SIAE representatives, prepared a presentation of the international PIAAC survey of adult skills as an example of good practice in the field of inter-sectoral policy planning. They summarised the result of the survey that took place in Slovenia between 2012 and 2016 and presented the trends in the field of monitoring and assessment of adult skills in Slovenia. A blog (in Slovenian) with a more detail description of the event is already published on the EPALE platform.

Next year, the conference will be held in Slovenia. The EPALE Slovenia National Support Service will select a pertinent topic with the help of colleagues from other countries and invited interesting speakers. We are looking forward to international collaboration and hope to see you there.
