Within the framework of the Multigenerational Centre “Planet generacij” of the Žalec AEC, we held the 4th traditional tree-wrapping event in collaboration with Europa Donna Slovenia. On 2 October, following a short cultural and artistic programme, we went to the park by the Fountain in Žalec and wrapped the trees there in pink. The knits will decorate the park until 30 October.
With this activity, we are joining the Pink October campaign taking place throughout Slovenia, the purpose of which is to raise awareness about breast cancer. Crocheting and knitting stimulate the women’s creativity, strengthen manual skills, fine motor skills and perseverance and, last but not least, drive away negative thoughts. Various generations, societies, AECs and NGOs are involved in the project, which strengthens intergenerational cooperation and socialising.
