On Friday, 12 May, we opened this year’s LLW and felt the pulse of life, learning and creativity in the Upper Vipava Valley. On this occasion, let us express our congratulations and deep respect to the dedicated employees of Ajdovščina AEC for organising this excellent ceremony! Thanks also go to the talented performers from the local community, the inspiring exemplary learners from the Upper Vipava Valley and the young filmmaker Luka Zailac, who delicately brought their stories closer to us. A recording of the opening and the previous press conference, as well as photos, are available (in Slovenian) on the website of the opening.
The main heroes of LLW are the regional and thematic coordinators
Excellent job, LLW coordinators! Your dedication, insightfulness and masterful weaving of partnerships with various institutions and individuals in a geographical area or thematic field are truly admirable. This is reflected in the numerous events taking place throughout the country. It is also evident on social media, where daisies and the colour red prevail. It is recognised in the event calendar, where most organisers and a substantial number of events are listed (around 8,000). Let all this abundance of opportunities for learning, socialising and creating be showcased and convince as many individuals as possible that learning strengthens and brings joy! And may the Weeks have a lasting and beneficial impact on the individuals involved and the entire communities!
The highlight of local events was the Learning Parade
Vibrant programmes, co-created by various organisers in twenty Slovenian towns under the guidance of the Learning Parade coordinators, ensured a lively atmosphere despite the unpredictable weather. Different generations mingled at the locations, local content blended with global perspectives, digital intertwined with green initiatives and many others, culture danced with learning and efforts for health contributed to the good spirits. In short, a Day of Learning Communities came to life with full force on 24 May.
You can read more about EYS in a separate article. In it, we also announced this year’s Adult Education Colloquium – the central professional meeting of LLW at the national level, which took place on 1 June at the House of the EU in Ljubljana.
And finally, do you know
what Dušica, Manca, Zlatko, Boštjan, Gojka, Sapana, Marjan, Mojca, Karli, and some other well-known individuals (you can add their surnames yourself) have in common when it comes to helping us spread the importance of learning on various occasions? They are creators, and creativity is the highest level of knowledge utilisation when you go beyond acquired information and experiences and venture onto uncharted paths, daring to flirt with new ideas and untested solutions. It is said that knowledge, skills and creativity complement and enhance each other, bringing joy and enrichment to our lives.
May the events of LLW and the Learning Parade enable all the believers, but especially those who still doubt the power of learning, to equip themselves with information, experience as many new learning challenges as possible and feel that irresistible inner urge to create – in any field!
New updates are being posted on the LLW website, and the power and joy of learning can be observed from the posts on social media: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
