On Monday, 12 December, the management staff in ALE met at a seminar at the SIAE organised by CIPRA Slovenia, the Association for Protection of the Alps. The seminar’s main focus was on management during climate change and effectively reducing ALE organisations’ environmental impact.

At the seminar, participants reviewed some facts about climate change with Dr Matej Ogrin. With Dr Tatjana Planinc and Urška Kleč, they learned about the Alpine School Model and examples of its implementation. Dr Mojca Ilc Klun led the workshop section. Using the educational material, she guided participants to think about the challenges of the Vršič Pass. They searched for ways to transfer the Alpine School Model to their own institution.

The model is interesting for all participating institutions as it places the environment at the centre of reflection on educational activity. It emphasises that the natural environment is a learning space. Climate change also means changing learning environments and the management of educational institutions must respond to these changes.

The meeting was also an opportunity for management staff to meet and exchange experiences. Collaboration is crucial for effective adaptation to environmental changes. Therefore, it is essential to create opportunities for such meetings.
