Did you know that EPALE is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year? The EPALE Community Conference 2025, held in October, was shaped by this milestone. Under the title Passages, it explored how ALE has changed and where it is taking us next.
The event took place in Brussels and was also accessible online. Ana Kavčič from Slovenia was among the participants, taking part in special activities curated by the organisers for the most active members of the community. She captured her reflections in a blog post, sharing insights from her experience.
Passages
ALE is full of passages – between generations, the digital and the analogue, formal and non-formal learning. The event offered an opportunity to pause, look back and ask: What have we learnt? Where are we heading?
Key themes that resonated included:
- Artificial intelligence: how can we integrate it into adult learning without losing human connection?
- Basic skills: how can we strengthen literacy, numeracy and digital competences among adults returning to learning?
- Competences for the future: how can we prepare people for jobs that do not yet exist?
The event was a unique opportunity for anyone interested in how ALE is evolving in the European context.
