On 31 March, in Cankarjev Dom in Ljubljana, the SIAE and partners showcased activities and products related to lifelong learning. Colourful LLW postcards with motivational words about learning were a real draw for curious visitors. We inspired and encouraged them to participate in the LLW and the Learning Parade – Day of Learning Communities through engaging conversations and displaying video content. We also introduced the Where to get knowledge platform.
We were delighted that representatives of the Šmarje pri Jelšah Library, a longtime regional coordinator of LLW and the Learning Parade (LP), joined us at our exhibition area. They presented programmes for cultural and artistic education, reading promotion programmes, activities in the field of theatre and film education, pedagogical programmes of the Museum of Baroque, YouTube channel, LLW and LP, as well as intergenerational learning (U3A).
With the presentation of her quiet books, Edita Mlakar from Rogaška Slatina, the winner of the 2022 Award for Exemplary Learners of the Savinja region, joined us. She attracted a lot of attention from various education providers. She is convinced that quiet books can have an invaluable impact on acquiring lifelong knowledge and promote the holistic development of a child. At the same time, they can unexpectedly soothe what troubles a child and weave bonds between the child and their loved ones. Quiet books have proven to be an extremely therapeutic tool for children with special needs and older adults facing dementia.
We left the event joyful and filled with excellent feelings of mutual connection. This is a promising sign that the Cultural Bazaar will become a regular part of our efforts to spread the power and joy of learning in cultural life.
